Formerly Solelec Réunion, Tenesol has had a presence in La Reunion since 1990. Market leader in the photovoltaics sector, the company employs approximately 100 staff and has created approximately 50 indirect jobs (independent sale reps, self-employed installers, local suppliers). With its own design office (comprising twenty staff including 3 engineers specializing in renewable energies), Tenesol Indian Ocean provides its staff with continuous training on industry developments and security considerations.
Tenesol Indian Ocean has knowledge and expertise drawn from over 25 years working in French overseas territories. In 2009, it achieved a turnover of 70 million Euro.
Tenesol is a long-standing player in the thermal and photovoltaic market on the island of Reunion. The company has acquired specific expertise in the following activities :
- Photovoltaic power plants: more than 5,000 m² installed in the calderas and highlands of the island, and in remote areas not connected to the EDF network, i.e. an output of 550 kWp,
- Grid connection: approximately 16,000 m² of equipment installed, on the roofs of private individuals and on commercial or public sites, the equivalent of almost 2 MWp,
- Individual solar thermal power: more than 20,000 solar water heating systems installed,
- Community-based solar thermal power: installed in more than 600 homes.
Tenesol Indian Ocean has committed to a rigorous quality control strategy. The solar water-heating systems and photovoltaic systems installed by Tenesol are certified.
Highly regarded in Reunion for its expertise and quality ethos, Tenesol Indian Ocean is also active throughout the Indian Ocean region. The company has extensive experience in the specific constraints of the geographical and climatic environments associated with the area and has acquired unrivaled expertise in the area of sales, assembly and maintenance. Tenesol Indian Ocean is involved in the following areas :

Solar water heating – A particularly efficient system
Particularly suited to the local climate, Tenesol Océan Indien specializes in the installation of solar water heating systems. 60,000 solar water-heating systems have already been installed to date, and the market is growing at an annual rate of 10,000 units per year. The positive impact on the environment could be quite substantial when you consider that 50% of the solar water-heating systems replace or avoid the use of electric water-heating systems. The remaining 50% replaces or avoids the use of gas-fired water-heating systems.
